There are designer sunglasses that will cost you a pretty penny. They’re absolutely worth it because they’re made with quality material. They are durable, comfortable, promises the utmost eye protection, and they’re undeniably stylish. Plus, they make you feel good for being a luxury you can afford.

But have you heard of the sunglasses that break the bank – the ones that are worth the price of a car or a down payment on a house? What makes these sunglasses so expensive, you ask? We count down the priciest sunglasses:

5. Luxuriator Style 23 Canary Diamond Sunglasses – $65,000

What do you get in a pair of sunglasses from the Luxuriator Collection that makes them worth $65,000? For starters, an 18-karat gold plating around the body of the frame and don’t forget the 132 hand-cut, paved diamonds around the bridge and corners of the frames. The dark lenses adjust to the light which makes them appear to blend into the gold frame. Oh, and we must not fail to mention that the temples are made out of ivory buffalo horn.

4. CliC Gold 18 Carat Gold Sport Sunglasses – $75,000

Ron Lando, the founder of CliC Gold, has been in the eyewear business for over 35 years. In 2012, he teamed up with Hugh Power, internationally renowned jewelry designer, to create the CliC Gold 18 Carat Gold Sports Sunglasses – the world’s most expensive sports sunglasses.

Each piece takes 40 to 50 hours to complete by hand which explains why only 100 pairs were ever produced.

Everything from the screws and frame to the nose pads are made from solid gold! The lenses go through a unique grind process using the Carl Zeiss Super ET Anti-Reflective coating on the back. CliC went as far as to having a patented magnetic front connection system on the bridge.

3. Shiels Jewellers Emerald Sunglasses – $200,000

The Shiels Jewellers Emerald Sunglasses makes you question whether they are eyewear or jewelry. Maybe both? They were created by Shiels Jewellers, an Australian company founded in 1945 by Jack Shiels.

The emeralds used on the lenses took five years to procure, shape, and cut! On top of that, these sunglasses have a fine gold frame with diamonds speckled throughout.

The inspiration? The Roman emperor, Nero, would use emeralds to protect his eyes when watching gladiator matches.

2. Dolce & Gabbana DG2027B Sunglasses – $383,609

For many years, the Dolce & Gabbana DG2027B Sunglasses held the record for most expensive sunglasses. The DG2027B sunglasses boast a golden frame with brown-tinted lenses. Encrusted on the arms of the frame in tiny diamonds is the name DOLCE on one side and GABBANA on the other.

1. Chopard De Rigo Vision Sunglasses – $408,000

Knocking the Dolce & Gabbana DG2027B Sunglasses out of its spot is the Chopard De Rigo Vision Sunglasses. Swiss company Chopard teamed up with luxury glasses manufacturer De Rigo Vision to create what is now the most expensive sunglasses in the world.

But do two luxury names behind the sunglasses justify its $408,000 price tag? We think the fact that the tip ends of these glasses are made from 60 grams of 24-karat gold with arms that are embellished with dotted gold is a fabulous start. Add to that is the brand’s signature ‘C’ swirled on the temple of the frame surrounded by an impressive 51 full-cut River diamonds totaling 4 carats! Whoa!

Shocked by the price tags of these opulent sunglasses? We at Vuliwear can definitely appreciate the beauty of these pieces, particularly the craftsmanship that goes into the handmade ones.

But if you’re looking for designer sunglasses that are amazingly stylish at a price that says they’re high-quality and uniquely designed, check out Vuliwear’s cool yet classic line.
